“You’ll wear yourself out in 10 yrs”
That was my wife’s comment when I groaned about my aching legs
yesterday.
Well I thought that’s a long time so I better enjoy myself.
Pat,
just a bit of feedback about how helpful your advice and joining
the running group has been.
I was looking for a new sporting direction and I certainly found
it with PCRG and you as a coach.
There is never a morning when I don’t get encouraged by the
smiling faces and feeling of comradeship when we start the
Tuesday and Thursday sessions.
-
EVERY session someone has offered some words of encouragement.
-
EVERY session I have someone to challenge me and push me that
extra few metres or a few seconds faster.
-
EVERY session I think I going to throttle the person who sold
Pat a watch which always seems much faster than mine.
The sessions have always been enjoyable, well after they are
finished at least.
The funniest comment was from Claire when after a particularly
gruelling Botanic Gardens circuit session
” Steve it’s a running club NOT a walking club! Come on!”
Did she know at that stage (the warm down) that I was actually
trying to run back but was really buggered?
The nicest comment was from David when he said
''Jesus!
You are starting to look like a runner now, you’re trimming down.''
Was he actually saying I was fat before?
I was an avid rock climber and P/T MTB rider and now I have
found that I rarely climb and have to really schedule the riding
sessions in.
I would have considered myself to be a social runner with lots
of fun runs, but very little progress. They’re not much fun when
a little old lady pushing a running stroller passes you at the
finish line however.
Now I am just keen to run and stretch myself.
Your techniques and training have made my weekend runs more
enjoyable and productive.
It gets really addictive and I look forward to the buzz after
finishing each.
So far as a “newbie” (after 4 months training starting from
around Australia day)
I have achieve the following:
-
Lost 5kgs in weigh.
-
Improved my times for a 10km by 5mins.
-
Increased my motivation to succeed by at least 100%.
-
Found new direction to the rest of the year.
-
Gained numerous new crazy running friends.
Pat, this is due all to your advice and direction. Thanks for
answering all my questions, although I sometimes still think its
not me you are yelling at during the speed sessions but one of
the other Steve’s in the club.
