Oct 3k Time Trial

I have
finally done it!! Sub 13 for the time trial has been a goal of
mine for so long and it feels so good to have finally smashed
it! I have been hovering around the low 13's for so long but
haven't managed to get under it. The last few months I have been
pretty disappointed to come so close, but never close enough.

(2007 for
Sarah:
14.19/14.10/13.37/13.27/13.16/13.10/13.08/13.13/13.02 – 12.36)
All of the
people I run with - Karen, Tammy, Garry, Helen and Cassie all
knew of my goal and were so happy for me today. Tammy and Dan in
particular have been such great supports to me over the last few
months - they have been pacing me over varying parts of the
course, both having much more faith in me than me. Last month,
Dan paced my last 1km and I was disappointed to miss out by 2
seconds. This month I was determined I was going to break
it. Dan was also determined that I wouldn't slack off in the
first 500m of the final 1km!
I was
absolutely amazed when I got to the 1km mark and you called out
"4.01". I felt so great, I couldn't believe I had run so fast
(for me) over the 1st 1km. Dan and Tammy brought me home over
the last 1km, encouraging me and talking to me all the way.
Cassie, Fiona, Linda, Andy, Tony, Lizzie all called out words of
encouragement for me at the turnaround, when they were all
putting in their own amazing efforts and could hardly breathe,
let alone call out to me.

''12.36'' - I did
it!!!!!!!!!!
To many of
runners in your group, sub-13 is easily achievable. But you
would never know this from their genuine excitement at someone
else reaching a goal which to them, is easy. Thank you for
bringing together such a fantastic group of people. I honestly
look upon my running friends as my greatest friends (maybe
because they, more than others, understand my need to go to bed
so early and don't think I'm crazy for getting up at 4:30 in the
morning, especially on a Saturday!!). You have a fantastic group
of people and I feel so privileged to be a part of it.

I know
this was a time trial, not a race, and maybe I'm being overly
excited, but I can't help it. I'm so excited to not only have
gone under 13mins, but to smash it!
Bring on
the Melbourne half!
Sarah
