Pace yourself
"A
winner paces himself; a loser has
only two speeds: hysterical and lethargic"
I
guess the word "loser" is a tad harsh but hey it's not my quote.
I have a neighbour who is into his 50's and for maybe the past
30 years he has not done any exercise and is a fairly heavy
smoker.
A
few months back he decided to get on the get fit wagon and
started walking and at the same time trying to knock off the
fags. He went from zero to walking every day and up to
about 10k a day after two weeks.
He
was all excited and asked me for some advice. I suggested
that he reduce what he was doing and maybe only walk a few days
a week for he was putting a heap of stress on a body that had
been pretty much dormant for the past thirty years.
Cutting straight to the chase the guy is no longer walking and
back onto the fags. He injured himself and lost the
momentum. I could see it coming but he just wouldn't
listen to me.
I
think we can all take the above quote on board with our running.
Never loose sight of the fact that you are mortal and always
pace yourself so that your enjoyment and welcomed high's will
never wane.
