Pat, My apologies for not acknowledging the great performances by Ruth Marshall/Scott Budd and Adrian Wells in last Sundays Ironman. Nicholas Dougal did exceptional well (10th) in the Australian junior Triathlon in Tasmania. Over the next few months you will hear me constantly referring to the Gold Coast Airport Marathon/Half Marathon/10k and also our Accenture/PCRG Gold Coast 2008 campaign. I am well aware that there will be a number of PCRG members who for whatever reason will not be running at the Coast. Please don't feel like you need to be running at the Coast to be eligible to be involve in future PCRG sessions. Regardless of your goal PCRG is here for you. I am impressed by the way PCRG members have embraced our Accenture/PCRG Gold Coast 2008 campaign slogan - "NO SOFT OPTION" Karen Masnata (and I hope you don't mind me mentioning this Karen) was unable to join her training partners for a long training run last Saturday morning due to the fact she had a tight back. Karen's back came good and ended up running 2hrs 40min SOLO on Sunday a/noon (even after an entertaining lunch). Now that is what I call commitment and when Karen told me this she finished off with "Well Pat, NO SOFT OPTION!" You have come a long way since the Nike 10k runs Karen and I'm really proud of you! Yes I am a hard task master but that is why you are involved with me. I provide the environment and motivation which keeps you focused and buzzing. There is however such a thing as the "SENSIBLE OPTION!" Resting and missing a few runs because you are ill or injured is far from being soft - it's being SENSIBLE. Photos from Tuesday's session can be viewed here.
Catch you in the morning and or/on Friday for the final
session, for a few months, where you won't hear me
constantly referring to Gold Coast.
Pat P.S. Some of you may have already seen this clip on youtube "Dunno Nothing Sorta". If you haven't, its worth a look and it certainly helped me understand that my 14 year old Tim (who I love heaps) is not the only teenager that "communicates" in such a way.
PCRG Apparel also available for purchase @ PCRG.
Make sure you visit intraining @ Park Rd Milton for all your running needs. Thank you intraining for being a PCRG sponsor.
Thank you pb sports nutriton for your ongoing support in providing product which is used at the group sessions.
The Canberra Marathon is a first class event and there is sufficient time to back up for Gold Coast. The course is fast and the weather is ideal.
2008 will be the 30th anniversary! The course is fast and you will enjoy picture perfect scenery. There will be a PCRG team and I hope you will be able to take part.
If you fail to follow a sensible diet your body will not gain full benefit from all of those enjoyable and challenging runs and you won't recover as well as you possibly could. Kerith Duncanson is an accredited dietician as well as a former International class runner. An online dietary assessment by Kerith may assist you to achieve your goal. Kerith offers 20% off her advertised fees to any runners involved with me through online coaching or any runner who is a regular member of PCRG.
