Pat, Photos from Tuesdays PCRG session can be viewed here. I have taken to surfing on a wave ski with a similar passion to what enabled me to be one of the best distance runners in Australia during the 80’s and 90’s. Often I will spend up to 4hrs in the surf. I recall one recent day when I had a 3hr surf, hopped out for a big breakfast at Currumbin and then jumped back in for another 2hrs. Monday morning I drove to Greenmount and on the second wave I nose dived, hit the bottom and practically broke my ski in half. You can well imagine the words I used when I surfaced to find the front of my brand new ski crumbled. To be honest it would not have bothered me half as much if it happened in the last 10min of my surf rather than the first 10. Thankfully the ski can be repaired. I was annoyed to miss out on a surf because it was one less workout, one less opportunity to enjoy myself and one less opportunity to improve my skill. This is identical to the attitude I had during my running career. I believe it’s a great appreciate for life to have a passion for something and I receive a great deal of satisfaction seeing members of PCRG being passionate about their running. I look forward to seeing you become just that little bit stronger and one step close to achieving your goal at tomorrow mornings enjoyable PCRG session. Cheers Pat My ski - pre crumble!
