  • Pat,

If you did not attend this morning's PCRG session chances are you went to sleep last night thinking the session would be rained out. Fortunately the weather was perfect and I enjoyed offering encouragement to group members under the Story Bridge.

You can’t falt the weather in Brisbane at present when it comes to running – Simply brilliant!

Friday morning sessions have been attracting well over 20 group members so if you missed this morning’s session you still have an opportunity to become slightly fitter tomorrow morning.

Apart from Triathlons there are few events to run in over summer. To help keep PCRG motivation levels high I intend to stage a ‘PCRG summer series’ during Dec/Jan/Feb. The 10 week format will be similar to our ‘Countdown to Gold Coast’ and my aim is for the series to culminate with a Brisbane Running Group 3k Challenge.

I am therefore in need of a main sponsor and/or a number of minor sponsors to aid with prizes which will be awarded at the 30 group sessions and BRG 3K Challenge. A main sponsor will have full naming rights to the series. Please don’t hesitate to contact me via return email if you or your company are interested.

A strong majority of PCRG members are people who return to running after they have spent many years concentrating on family and career. David Bourne is a ‘born’ (pardon the pun) again runner and has taken the time to provide you with an insight as to what makes him tick.

I hope you enjoy getting to know David just that little bit more and please contact me via return email if you would like to submit your profile.

    Cheers

    Pat

    P.S. Go Steve Grace – You’re a machine!

Noosa Triathlon - Less than 5 weeks to go!

One of the best Triathlons in the World takes place on our door step.
    Noosa Triathlon – October 29.

If you are not involved in the full Tri you could run the 10k leg in the team’s event.

You can advertise on the Noosa Triathlon site that you are looking for a cyclist and swimmer to make up a team. You will also find swimmers and/or cyclists searching for a runner.

    David Bourne 'uncut'

I work as a Project Manager/Business Analyst. I live in Yeerongpilly, have lived in Brisbane since I was born (apart from two very cold years in Melbourne) and joined PCRG in March 2006.

My favourite restaurant is The Gun Shop at West End.

My earliest childhood memory is driving my peddle car and as an adult is binge drinking (it’s a bit more hazy than my childhood memory though).

My favourite movie is any Jim Carrey movie (much too my wife’s disgust).

Brisbane City is a great place to live because of the relaxed lifestyle and weather.

My regular holiday destination is Noosa.

If money was no option I would (in order) quit work, take my family around Australia on a camping holiday, buy a Porsche 911 Carrera S and work for a children’s charity.

It frustrates me when I have to deal with negative or disorganised people or people who cannot admit their mistakes.

I have been involved in running since school but I had a 16 year break and my most memorable running experience is the 2006 Gold Coast Half marathon when I broke 90 minutes running with Wayne.

I enjoy distance running because it is a great way to get fit and you can zone out.

My favourite run is along Noosa Sound/Noosa River.

Motivation is something that is not hard to find because I enjoy running so much and there is always room for improvement.

    Injuries are really frustrating.

My eldest daughter being diagnosed with Leukaemia was a turning point in my life because it brings home what really is important in life. (It is now over 6 years since Greta successfully finished her treatment).

PCRG is a great way to meet people and make new friends. The training is varied and it is easier to push yourself running in a group.

I prefer running in the morning because it is a great way to start the day.

Running is difficult when you are coming back from injury.

The best advice my father (and there was plenty of it) gave me was that bullshit baffles brains.

My grandmother (who lived to 96), kids who have to fight any form of serious illness or disability and people who donate their time to help others inspire me.

    I will regret nothing.
