  • Pat,

Tomorrow mornings session will involve a 50min light run and finishing off with our
no watch 1k ’. Please remember to bring a gold coin for Camp Quality.

There was some confusion with the turning point in Tuesdays 3k Time Trial and I am sorry if your time was effected. I placed a marker at the turn earlier in the morning and unfortunately it had been moved.
3K TT results and monthly report can be found here.

I am going to explore not using the congested side of Riverside Drive and using the service road beside Davies Park. For safety reasons we are best to remain on traffic areas as much as possible.

I have loaded the photos from ‘Dinner with Deek’ onto my site. Please email me if you would like a full resolution copy of any of the photos. You will find the photos here.

The Noosa Half Marathon is less than 3 weeks away. The inaugural ‘Veridian Vertical’ will take place (Noosa) on the morning before the Noosa Half. The cost is only $15 and it includes breakfast with Steve Moneghetti & Kerryn McCann! Details here.

Malcolm Stewart has submitted his profile and I am sure you will enjoy getting to know Malcolm just a little bit more.

Please contact me via email if you would like to submit your profile.

Catch you ALL in the morning.

    Cheers

    Pat

P.S. There are a number of PCRG members training for the Melbourne Marathon. Please contact me if you would like to receive PCRG Melbourne Marathon emails re accommodation etc.

Noosa Half Marathon & 10k - Less than 3 weeks to go!

If you are still on a high after Gold Coast and keen to be involved in another first class event then the Noosa Half Marathon or 10k is the race for you.

    Malcolm Stewart 'uncut'

I work as a Senior Draftsperson for Larkin Teys Consulting Engineers. I live and grew up in Runcorn (Southside of Brisbane), and joined PCRG in February 2006.

    My favourite restaurant is Sizzlers.

My earliest childhood memories are losing my left eye to a Tumour when 2 years old and going on holidays to the beach in the caravan at Burleigh Heads Gold Coast.

Adult – I played lawn bowls in a club competition in first division with top grade players. It came down to the last end and I played the best shot of my life which was quite a difficult shot, and I pulled it off to give my team game point. By this time everyone at the bowls club was watching and to just know that I hit the point we needed against adversity was one of my cherished moments.

My favourite movie is Sliding Doors.

Brisbane City is my home because it is my rock - Some where I can always come back to. The climate is not too cold or too hot and I enjoy going up to Mount Cootha Café to view the city in all directions.

My regular holiday destination is the Sunshine Coast.

If money was no option I would settle in a moderate size place of my very own and clear my debts. I would give my family gifts of thanks for helping me when my life fell in a hole and donate some money to Cancer research.

It frustrates me when people say one thing to me but go around saying something completely different to everyone else. Also, when people don’t indicate when driving their car.

I have been involved in running since 2004 and my most memorable running experience is my very first Gold Coast Half Marathon in 2004 where I was wearing the wrong size shoes. I was wearing size 10 running shoes because that is my dress shoe size & I did not allow for swelling. I had to stop for a comfort stop with 6km to go and I ran completely on my own. I completed the race in 2hr:18min (I was extremely pleased as it was my very first half marathon).

I enjoy distance running because it helps me to relax and de-stress. Before I started running I was on medication for Epilepsy and I was constantly stressed out from work and going through divorce and sharing a place with flatmates which all was getting too much to handle. I started going for walks and the walks became a trot and from a trot to a run. So now I am completely off the medication and I am feeling energised and all thanks to running. I still have to be careful as not to overstress so I always like to finish with a smile even in those tough kms.

My favourite run is the Gold Coast Half Marathon.

Motivation is something which comes from within. In order to achieve whatever we set ourselves to achieve it has to come from a desire within to make the decision to do it otherwise there is no point in doing it in the first place.

To me running is great but the most important thing is my health as without it I can’t go to training or do the running events which I enjoy. I believe that we have to listen to our bodies when we run as it is our engine. If we neglect to look after the engine correctly the engine won’t run properly & injuries may occur.

PCRG is like a family because we encourage each other and share in the ups and downs & triumphs of running.

I prefer running in the early morning because I get to see the sunrise, hear the birds awakening and feel the stillness in the air. After I go to training at PCRG my day at work just seems so much better.

Running is a constant challenge of facing goals head on & learning about who I am as a person. I may not be the quickest but I am constantly proud of myself each time I put on my running shoes and head out the door for a run.

I have always been inspired by people who against the odds succeed in whatever they aim to achieve. I was proud to be an Australian when I watched De Castella win the marathon in 1982 in Brisbane (when I was 10). Just watching him come from behind is a good example of never quitting.

I will never regret my decision to put on my running shoes, go for a run and meet up with the people of PCRG. I thank you all for your encouragement and allowing me to be a part of this ‘family’ and I always like to return the favour back to those who help me.
