Pat, Shortly I will be having a large print made of the goals PCRG members have nominated for the Gold Coast Airport Marathon/Half Marathon or 10k. This print will be on display at the Coast (at our canopy) and will allow group members to look out for (100+) PCRG runners as they approach the finish line. If you wish to add or change your Gold Coast Goal please do so by Friday. Full details here. Dinner with Deek and Annual Dinner tickets are selling fast. Once 120 tickets have been sold for each dinner I will not be able to allow any last minute guests. Dinner with Deek is not an exclusive PCRG dinner, anyone is welcome to attend. I often enjoy a cold beer or two at night and have decided to wipe beer from my diet this week just so I can prove to myself I can go without. It’s amazing because what I have found as a result is that I really like wine! You will discover in Tony Trigg’s profile that he is a man who loves his beer. I look forward to having a cold one with Tony once my abstinence has come to an end. I hope you enjoy getting to know Tony Trigg just a little bit more. Catch you ALL in the morning. Cheers Pat P.S. Your excused if you missed Tuesdays session because you were up late watching the soccer for it is a true WORLD game. ‘State of Origin’ – no way!
Thursday-June 29 The Ship Inn 6.30pm
I work as a radiographer. I live in Greenslopes, have lived in Brisbane since 2000 and joined PCRG in November 2005. My favourite restaurant is The Gun Shop, West End. 5 star food and service, 3 star prices. My earliest childhood memory is introducing myself to my mum’s boss, after letting myself into his office. I became the only person there allowed to call Mr Hutchison, “Hutchy.” I was 4 he was 62, we became great mates. I almost became an adult. Then I had a child. I am trying to teach my son to be the biggest child he can be. I have had a few decades of practice. My favourite movie is always going to be a gangster movie. Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Goodfellas, Donnie Brasco or Finding Nemo, I can’t choose. Brisbane City is not London or Mackay, and that is a good thing. I live here because my wife wants to. My regular holiday destination is Mt Hotham. Snow skiing is an obsession of mine, although I am relatively new to the sport, most of my day dreaming time is spent constructing (unrealistic) ways to be skiing right now. If money was no option I would build a micro- brewery at Dinner Plain, just 25 km from Mt Hotham. It frustrates me when my wife thinks that having a microbrewery at Dinner Plain is not such a good idea. She explains that our son would grow up as a Victorian; valid point. I have been involved in running since a ski instructor told me I would be a better skier if I was fitter, or if I gave up beer. Easy choice. My most memorable running experience is always at the end of my next run. I never thought something so simple could bring so much contentment. I enjoy distance running because I find it extremely hard. I am constantly being challenged to achieve feats that I did not think were possible for me. My favourite run is from The Story Bridge Hotel to The Ship Inn to The Plough Inn, then to The Regatta, then to the R.E. If you come on this run with me, you will need a taxi to get home. Motivation is something I get from these people. Injuries are things that happen to other people and keep me in a job. A failed knee reconstruction was a turning point in my life because I realised that I wasn’t as invincible as I thought I was. PCRG are inclusive, supportive, and insane. Thank you. I’d prefer to be running in Canada because they have lots of snow and microbreweries. Running is becoming another obsession on mine. It is difficult to explain to people who just don’t get it. The best advice my father gave me was, “Just marry her you idiot.” Michael Milton inspires me. He’s a 1 legged, snow skiing, beer drinker. I will never regret being a Qld Reds supporter, although I should.
I will post your Gold Coast 2006 Goal on my site as well as on a board which will be displayed at the group sessions. I encourage you to accept the challenge. Please get out your diaries, your PATHWAY to success will involve these important dates.
I am asking you all to please “Dig Deep” not only in your running but also in your generosity towards raising funds for the QUEENSLAND CANCER FUND. I approached Susan one morning to let her know that her Uncut story moved me. I realised then we had a connection to cancer. I mentioned briefly my story to her & I would like to share it all with you.
Saturday-July 15-The Ship Inn-7pm $60 (two weeks after Gold Coast) Imagine standing on the verandah at the dinner with a relaxing drink, looking down at where we meet throughout the year, rain/hail or shine.
Possibly you (or your company) would enjoy being a PCRG 'Countdown to Gold Coast' 2006 sponsor. There are also opportunities available to be a naming rights sponsor for a PCRG post training session breakfast and/or a PCRG seminar.
Tuesday’s session was slightly down in numbers and no doubt the soccer had a role to play there. Sure, those who slept in may have caught a great game of soccer. On the flip side they missed out on a great session. I give you the drum!
All race kits for people her entered via the PCRG group entry will be available at PCRG on Tuesday and Thursday prior to Gold Coast and also at Dinner with Deek. Please advise me if you would prefer to collect your race kit at race registration.
