  • Pat,

Over 80 people have confirmed they will be attending our ‘Countdown to Gold Coast’ launch on Friday night, 6.30pm @ The Ship Inn (upper level). This is not an exclusive PCRG night, anyone is welcome. Can you please RSVP via return email ASAP if you have not already done so.

All PCRG members who register their Gold Coast Goal and who attend the launch will be eligible for a random draw prize. You can register your goal here.

Some of you already know that I injured by back last weekend while spending a few days at Mooloolaba and as a result I couldn’t surf and was also unable to run at all. It was hard to take, being stooped over in pain watching the runners go past in the triathlon along with a back drop consisting of perfect rolling waves.

There will be times when you will turn up for a group session and feel a bit like ''Here we go again''. If this does happen imagine being injured – your complacency will soon vanish.

Andy Steele took the time to provide some PCRG feedback and gave me permission to post his words on my site. You will find Andy’s feedback below.

Congratulations to recent Group Award recipients:

    • Allyson Lyndsay: FUEL BELT
    • Linda Florence: R4YL Subscription
    • Tori Hadley: $50 Ship Inn voucher

Brad Langmack is inspired by Jockeys. Well, great things do come in small packages Brad, and in reflection, your close to jockey material yourself mate.

I hope you enjoy getting to know Brad Langmack just that little bit more.

Catch you ALL in the morning.

    Cheers

    Pat

P.S. Will you be nominated for a Group Award tomorrow morning or be lucky enough to win a free massage or a random draw prize?

    Feedback from Andy Steele

I needed that session this morning, after being off crook for a few days it was a great tonic to get back to the group - I believe it's impossible to have a bad day after starting with a PCRG session.

    Well done!

I work as a cabinet maker/joiner fulltime and also as a part time gym instructor teaching Less Mills Body Pump and RPM. Have my own personal Training Business - Infocus Personal Trainers 0421 631 466. I live in Everton Park and have lived in Brisbane since I was born and joined the Pat Carroll running group in March 2005

My favourite restaurant is Everton Hills Seafood restaurant (it’s a fish n chip shop really).

My earliest childhood memory is sitting in the middle of the football field at Graceville after getting bitten by a green ant at the age of 5 while playing my first game of football. I said there and then that I would give the game away. I did give it away, 26 years later.

My favourite movie is The Octagonal Story (a documentary).

Brisbane City is the best place in the world to live because 1 hour South or North and you have the best beaches in the World and just a short boat trip will see you on Moreton Island or Straddie. We are very lucky! We also have Lang Park, the best football ground in the World.

My regular holiday destination is Sunshine coast, Kings Beach.

If money was no option I would quit my day job and expand my personal training business. I get great satisfaction out of training people and helping them achieve their goals. It is a very rewarding thing and I love it.

It frustrates me when people worry about what happened yesterday. It’s gone so let it go and focus on what is ahead of you, not behind you.

I have been involved in running since 2004 when I retired from football and my most memorable running experience is doing the Noosa Half Marathon in 2004 with no training, I only entered three days before the race. I just wanted to make sure I finished and I did it in just over 87min. That is also the day I heard the story of Boris the Big Brown Bear for the first time.

I enjoy distance running because I hate walking. I really do!

My favourite run is the 3km time trial we do once a month.

Motivation is something that the PC running group has in large amounts. Amazing group of people!

Injuries are something you learn to live with after being bashed for 26 years playing football. I am lucky to have come away with knees and ankles that aren’t too bad, but I could do with a couple of replacement shoulders.

Retiring from football was a turning point in my life because I joined the gym and also started running which led me to starting my own PT business and teaching at the gyms.

The Pat Carroll running group is an amazing group of people who deserve every bit of success they can achieve. Great people to train with! There is always someone to push you that little bit harder.

I prefer running in the Sunday morning group because you have a chat and a laugh along the way and before you know it you have been running for two hours.

Running is very rewarding physically and mentally, but very difficult to do in winter in Europe.

The best quote I read was ''Champions aren’t made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them. A desire, a dream a vision. They have to have last minute stamina, they have to be a little faster. They have to have the skill and the will. But the Will must be stronger than the skill''. Muhammad Ali

    Jockeys inspire me.

I will never regret anything I do be it right or wrong. No one is perfect so there is no use trying to be.

    Gold Coast 2006 - GOALS

I will post your Gold Coast 2006 Goal on my site as well as on a board which will be displayed at the group sessions.

I encourage you to accept the challenge.

Please get out your diaries, your PATHWAY to success will involve these important dates.

Did you get your photo taken on Tuesday?

''Mate, why don't you get off that kid's bike and show us what you got''!
