  • Pat,

I would like to challenge you all to commit to Gold Coast 2006. Yes it is more than 18 weeks away however committing this far out will ensure you have left no stone unturned during your lengthy preparation.

You can forward your goal to me via this link and I will post your goal on my site as well as on a board which will be displayed at training.

The desire to achieve your goal is meaningless without the desire to prepare. Accepting the challenge NOW and displaying your goal for all to see will help motivate you during those cold winter mornings.

I have been fortunate in securing some sponsors for our Gold Coast campaign and there will be ample opportunities for you all to win a prize or two during the 15 week period which kicks off on March 21. R4YL magazine is the most recent sponsor to come on board and has provided me with a large number of annual subscriptions to award as prizes.

One group member has already been locked in as a sponsor and another group member has kindly offered to sponsor a breakfast.

Runners who wear fuel belts remind me of super hero’s such as Batman and Robin who wore utility belts. Linda Florence is a fan of the fuel belt and rightfully so for she is in fact a super hero. Linda had to abandon Tuesdays session for she received a call on her bat phone, so off the caped crusader went. Duty calls!

I hope you enjoy getting to know out third detective, Linda Florence.

Catch you ALL in the morning.

    Cheers

    Pat

P.S. Michael from Japan will be with us tomorrow morning, so bring your chop sticks.

    Pat Carroll Running Group Sponsorship

Possibly you (or your company) would enjoy being a PCRG 'Countdown to Gold Coast' 2006 sponsor.

There are also opportunities available to be a naming rights sponsor for a PCRG post training session breakfast and/or a PCRG seminar.

    Linda Florence 'uncut'

I work as a Detective in the Queensland Police. I live in Coorparoo, have lived in Brisbane since I was born and joined the Pat Carroll running group in about March 2005.

My favourite restaurant is Quan Than Vietnamese in West End, however this changes on a regular basis.

My earliest childhood memory is camping at Girraween National Park near Stanthorpe.

I don’t consider myself an adult, and I often wonder who that old woman staring back at me in the mirror is.

My favourite movie is Zoolander, it’s so hot right now.

Brisbane City is hot and humid but I love it because it’s home.

My regular holiday destination is North Stradbroke Island.

If money was no option I would not work, travel the world, pay off all my friends and families mortgages, and buy a block of units on straddie for cancer patients and their families to holiday in.

It frustrates me when motorists won’t share the road, smokers invade my air, and people who don’t know what they are talking about won’t shut up.

I have been involved in running since late 2003 and my most memorable running experience is running past tumbleweeds through the Nevada desert at 1 o’clock in the morning.

I enjoy distance running because it’s personal, it’s challenging and it is the only time in your day when all you have to do, is run.

My favourite run is Mt Cootha. It’s hard, but leaves you with a great sense of achievement.

Motivation is something I have, but is spread too thin between too many different areas of my life.

    Injuries are a constant annoyance.

Giving up smoking and my mother’s death were turning points in my life, because I inevitably found running, and I started to do all the things that I have always wanted to do.

The Pat Carroll running group are a motivated, welcoming bunch, who are prone to dressing up!

I prefer running in winter because this heat kills me.

Running is challenging and rewarding but difficult.

The best advice my mother and father ever gave me was buy a house.

Anyone who overcomes adversity or who finds a job they love inspires me. I will always regret not starting running sooner when I might have got free running tips from my then neighbour Pat.

    Gold Coast 2006 - GOALS

I will post your Gold Coast 2006 Goal on my site as well as on a board which will be displayed at the group sessions.

I encourage you to accept the challenge.

Please get out your diaries, your PATHWAY to success will involve these important dates.
