  • Pat,

I would like to thank INTRAINING and Mizuno for supplying us with breakfast after last Thursday’s run, it was most appreciated. It is my aim to have a number of sponsors involved with the group and to have a few random draws at the conclusion of each run.

Imagine walking off to your car trying to decide if the grin on your face is a result of having a great session or a result of winning a Mizuno running top.

The Brisbane Half Marathon and 10km (April 30) is less than 15 weeks away and I hope this is an event we can ALL prepare for together. I will be setting up a page on my site in the near future and inviting all group members to nominate the event they wish to enter along with a goal.

As you will discover in Tori Hadley’s profile, Tori is a lady who is willing to try anything once. Along with this I found it most interesting to find out that Tori’s favourite holiday spot is Northern NSW. The mind boggles!

I hope you enjoy getting to know Tori Haldley just a little bit more.

Catch you ALL in the morning.

    Cheers

    Pat

P.S Tori has been trying out a new ITB stretch. Check out the below photo if you would like to see how it is done.

I work as a sociologist. I live in Paddington, have lived in Brisbane since 2001 and joined the Pat Carroll running group in 2005.

My favourite restaurant is any where that does a good steak and salad or Japanese that’s very fresh.

My earliest childhood memory is going to the football at two years of age, being a Melbourne child means following sport from infancy.

A great adult memory is trying to decide if I wanted to do triathlons after going to Noosa and lifting my tongue off the ground as 5000 bodies paraded around in, well, not much really. Oh just in case you’re wondering, I am taking it up.

My favourite movie is hard to answer there are many. Harry Potter, Star Wars, love a good fantasy adventure flick.

Brisbane City is wonderful because I can exercise in weather that puts a smile on my face nearly every time, love it.

My regular holiday destination is Northern NSW, lovely mountains, bushwalks and high quality people free beaches.

If money was no option I would be a professional athlete and holiday where ever competition took me, oh and any day spa location would also be ideal.

It frustrates me when I have to peel my three year off my leg to go for a run.

I have been involved in running since 2003 and my most memorable running experience is this year’s gold coast marathon as I saw the benefits of training hard and achieving my goal.

I enjoy distance running because pain is my friend and I have found interesting places I would not know existed if I hadn’t run there.

My favourite run is Mt Cootha as it is hard but I always feel fabulous when it’s done.

Motivation is something we all have but few know how to use well.

Injuries are not something I have experienced in abundance, luckily for my kids as I would be a cow if I couldn’t exercise.

Taking up running was a turning point in my life because it has given me so much, great friends, great experiences and excellent places to see.

The Pat Carroll running group is full of awesome and inspiring people, I look forward to every session. It’s also a great place for me to do research as I work in mental health and well you know who you are!!!!!!!!!!!!

I prefer running in the nude because everything is better naked. I just wish they would stop putting me in jail. Hey aren’t there some lawyers in this group. Maybe we could swap services counselling for court support.

Running is never difficult, I couldn’t allow that thought to be a part of my head. Good advice from a sociologist, denial, denial, denial.

The best advice life experience gave me is try everything at least once, never say never and be careful what you wish for.

The thing that inspires me is people who never give up even when they are against all odds. I will try to never have serious regrets, I just hope I live long enough to do all the things on my list.

Unfortunately I forgot to discover who was the closest to their predicted 1km time last week. The INTRAINING launch distracted me.

I will therefore add this month’s kitty ($30) to next month’s gold coin donations.
