Pat, Sunday (yesterday) 4.40am: My alarm sounds and after a few seconds I realise what day it is. I am aware of a group of PCRG runners who are meeting for a long training run, 5.30am @ The Ship Inn. I am also aware that there is a decent swell happening down the Coast. So….a run….a surf….a run……a surf. I almost came close to tossing a coin before I decided it was high time I started to get back into some longer runs. Even though it was not a structured PCRG session I still found myself 'automatically' instructing everyone to 'KEEP LEFT' on the Goodwill Bridge. My decision was rewarding and I was reminded about the strength one can receive from running in a group environment. My mentor role @ PCRG often finds me controlling the group (which I totally enjoy) rather than focusing on my own development. There is a PCRG Group Force you can tap into a few times/week and with Gold Coast looming I will be locking in a number of Sunday PCRG long training runs in Daisy Hill State Forest (15-20min drive south of Brisbane City). I trained in the Daisy Hill State Forest for years and I am looking forward to sharing this fantastic running environment with you all. Stay tuned!!! Our monthly 3k Time Trial will take place tomorrow morning and I would appreciate any assistance non participating PCRG members can offer with marshalling duties. The PCRG 3K Time Trial is an opportunity for you to
discover where you are currently placed fitness wise.
Your ability over 3k will carry over into your
10k/Half Marathon and Marathon
as long as your volume of training is healthy.

The Canberra Marathon is a first class event and there is sufficient time to back up for Gold Coast. The course is fast and the weather is ideal.
