  • Pat,

The PCRG Summer Series will cover a 10 week period commencing December 4 and will culminate with the Brisbane Running Groups 3k challenge in the final week (date tbc). The PCRG Summer Series will involve the very same PCRG sessions that you now enjoy with the addition of prizes being awarded at the conclusion of each session.

The PCRG summer series allows your company an opportunity to gain exposure to well over 250 active PCRG members as well as a further 500 Newsletter subscribers.

Please contact me by return email or call me on 0403 176672 to obtain a PCRG Summer Series sponsorship proposal.

Congratulations to all of the PCRG members who were involved in Sundays Melbourne Marathon or Half Marathon. The next major event targeted by PCRG members will be the Noosa Triathlon - Less than 4 weeks to go!

Mark Hewitt may appear to be slightly on the crazy side by the fancy running apparel in his wardrobe however most sedate people would confirm that anyone who loved running for 3hrs was indeed totally bananas! I hope you enjoy getting to know Mark Hewitt just that little bit more (see below).

And what do I have to disclose about tomorrow's PCRG session - Well nothing extra special will be taking place however if you choose to skip it you won't fly through your day with that special feeling!

Photos from last Fridays PCRG session can be viewed here.

Catch you in the morning for another perfect PCRG start to your day.

    Cheers

    Pat

    Introducing Mark Hewitt

I work as a way to support my running. They call me the Logistics Manager which is really cool because no one is really sure what that means. I live in Norman Park, have lived in Brisbane since moving up from Melbourne in 2002, but also couple of years in the early 90s and joined PCRG a year ago in a desperate attempt for variety and to run faster.

My favourite restaurant is anything in the Thai cuisine, where the food can bring waterfalls to your nostrils!

My earliest childhood memory is falling into a pool and having my dad lift me out by my hair. I also remember swinging on an old tyre under a tree in the backyard with my sister until the rope broke.

In my opinion adult movies lack a decent plot. My favourite movie is Ferris Bueller's Day Off and more recently Dodgeball.

Brisbane City is a place I look forward to coming home to because it has a climate that is great for running, an air of optimism, and a sense of pride.

My regular holiday destination is running the River Loop.

If money was no option I would get someone to paint the house, extend the balcony, and buy a bike (just in case I couldn't run one day).

It frustrates me when I get told what to do (should I be telling you this?).

I have been involved in running since I was about ten and trying to keep up with my dad and the family dog, and my most memorable running experience is hard to pick, but usually involved the person right next to me at the time. I can pick at least 20 PCRG people and recall a run I shared with them as special to me.

I enjoy distance running because it is the best place in world for me to be.

My favourite run is the 3-hour long run.

Motivation is something I do not give a lot of thought to. I am goal driven, which can be a real pain to be honest.

Injuries are the spice in the running recipe.

My divorce was a turning point in my life because it was when I allowed myself to be myself.

PCRG is filled with people I admire.

I prefer running in the heat because I can get a sweat going without working too hard.

Running is difficult for me only when I set my expectations too high (and that would be my own fault after all).

The best advice Robbie Lofthouse gave me was go out easy, and run your guts out coming home. But he never said it, you learn that by watching him run.

My wife Katy inspires me to be a better person. It's a work in progress and I still have a long way to go.

I will unlikely regret much as I go through life, which is a little arrogant I guess.
