I wish to take this opportunity to share a brief story - non running related. I was surfing at Currumbin yesterday morning while the Anzac Day dawn service was taking place on the other side of Elephant Rock. Ever since I visited a POW camp in Thailand I have had the utmost respect and insight into what many great Australians endured to ensure we live in peace.
While the service was taking place I witnessed two adult surfers having a punch up over a surfing dispute - surf rage. I am not a fan of physical violence at the best of times but come on guys - Anzac Day of all days along with the fact we were literally metres away from the dawn service!
So why I am sharing this with you - well, just a public way to air my disappointment at witnessing two individuals fighting over nothing on a day that we honour the many great Australians who served our country so that we could have everything. Lest we Forget.
P.S. Don't forget to nominate the Gold Coast event you will be preparing for. You can do it here.
