Pat, The monthy PCRG 3k Time Trial will take place tomorrow morning and I hope you will be joining us. I would greatly appreciate assistance tomorrow morning by any non participating PCRG members who are able to act as course marshals. 8 sessions remain in the Adidas Sunglasses PCRG Summer Series and I hope you have locked in your availability for the Brisbane Running Groups 3k Challenge which is to be held @ 6pm on Friday evening Feb 16. All PCRG members who have attended 15 or more sessions throughout the Adidas Sunglasses PCRG Summer Series go into the draw for two nights accommodation at the Sebel Resort Noosa. The winner will be announced at the BRG’s 3K Challenge.
The PCRG ‘Summer Video’ will be shot in the Botanical
Gardens on Tuesday Feb 6 and I hope you will be
able to take part. It would be fair to say that as far
as music is concerned I am proudly stuck in the 80’s
(how can you go past Bowie/Led Zeppelin & our own
Hunters) and
anyone who
has a copy of any of the PCRG slide shows or videos
can well vouch for this. Therefore, I welcome any
suggestions re the music selection (three songs) for
the PCRG Summer Video.
Emma Hossack has lived a reasonably non eventful life apart from the fact that she was married amongst a tribe of Marewakan pygmies in the Eastern Highlands of PNG, was a lawyer for 20 years, manage a rock band for two years and oh yeah just one more trivial thing….she gave birth to triplets in 1996! I hope you enjoy getting to know Emma Hossack just a little bit more and please contact me via return email if you would like to submit your uncut profile. Taking part in tomorrow mornings PCRG 3K Time Trial will ensure you have a perfect start to your day. I know that you will be there! Cheers Pat

I’m Emma Hossack. I was a lawyer for 20 years, and then managed a rock band for a couple of years and am about to return to more gainful employment. I have lived in Brisbane since 1992, had triplets in 1996 and joined PCRG in July 2006. My favourite restaurant is The Green Papaya. My earliest childhood memory is my father de-sexing our male cat (he’s a surgeon, not a vet). My favourite memory as an adult is travelling in a helicopter to the Eastern Highlands of PNG and getting married amongst a tribe of Marewakan pygmies. My favourite movie is The Sound of Music or Smilas Feeling for snow. Brisbane City is fantastic because of the weather, and would be even better with daylight saving. My regular holiday destination is Moreton Bay. If money was no option I would have a house on the Giudecca in Venice, spend 3 months a year there and run the Venice Marathon. It frustrates me when I realise how many years I have wasted by not running and how much fitter I could be. My most memorable running experience is the last 5 kms of the Paris Marathon after I had broken my pelvis but still felt on top of Cloud 9 and seriously considered accepting the wine they were offering instead of water at the drinks table. I enjoy distance running because it offers just about the most freedom I have ever felt. My favourite run is around the Brisbane River from the Story Bridge and the Botanical Gardens (the Tan) in Melbourne. Motivation is something I have no problem with, I think I am the luckiest person alive every time I am able to run, and I hate to miss any chance. Injuries are a nuisance and waste of time, but something I am used to as I have osteopenia (like having your body supported by matchsticks), so I have had quite a few breaks. Since running my bone density has improved to the level of a normal woman my age though, so it’s a great side benefit. A turning point in my life was meeting my husband in the old Melbourne Gaol. PCRG is the best discovery I made last year, I can’t believe how much fun it is and how much easier it is to do hard runs with the group. I thought it would be depressing with all the amazing runners, but somehow it doesn’t seem to matter how slow you are at all. The best advice I have had is probably the last bit I read on the PCRG Site where Pat mentions his imaginary training partner. The story about the American Dad taking his disabled son on triathlons and to the Boston Marathon was the most moving story I heard last year.
