Pat,
I have always found the change of seasons, Spring
and Autumn, to be the periods where you see the
most amount of people out running. The true
diehards run all year round and the challenging days
are taken in their stride. If only we could convince
the seasonal runners of the advantages of running
throughout the entire year and make them realise
that cold dark mornings, more often than not,
eventuate into ideal running conditions.
Soon we will be bombarded with Gyms bringing out
their “Come join and work off those winter kilos
so you can look great in your bikinis’’ type marketing
campaigns. Fitness can be something you can
maintain throughout the entire year and as we move
into summer I urge you to maintain your running
program. Often all it takes to overcome a scorcher is
to step out the door slightly earlier in the mornings.
There are very few events left on the 2005 distance
running calendar and we are about to enter into the
Triathlon season. You may not be a cyclist or
swimmer however you may consider running the
10k leg in a team. The Noosa Triathlon, November 6,
is a superb event surrounded by a number of other
spectator activities the same weekend. If you are in
need of a summer event to keep your motivation
levels high you simply can’t do any better than the
Noosa Triathlon.
In this weeks newsletter you will find an insight into
Campbell Reid's debut Marathon. Campbell has taken
time out of his busy work schedule to recall his
Sydney Marathon experience.
It is an entertaining read.
Cheers
Pat
