Pat,
I totally enjoyed being the mc at the Noosa Journal
Half Marathon, Noosa 10k and Wide Bay 5k on
Sunday. Controlling the three events via the mic, at
times, resulted in a ‘slight’ strain in my voice however
I eventually found where my voice limitations fell.
A member of my Brisbane running group, Jodie Willett
was first lady across the line in the Half Marathon.
Congratulations Jodie and it is great to see you being
rewarded for persevering during testing times of late,
injury wise that is.
My partner Susan asked me (yes, she is talking to me
after the birthday thing) if it was a huge thrill for me
to have a member of my group win the race. I
advised Susan that even though I am happy for Jodie
that I was equally thrilled when another member of
the group, Dan Kelly, surpassed his goal and ran
under 2hrs 10min in the same event.
As I stood at the finish line I witnessed hundreds of
runners who were emphatic with their performance. I
love being involved with events such as Noosa
because everyone in the community has the
opportunity to walk away feeling just as proud as our
own Jodie.
Claire Bellenger ran a 6min pb in the Half and
following is an extract from an email Claire sent me
earlier today.
I was sitting at the airport last night sore and
tired.
Then the flight was delayed ANOTHER hour. Everyone
was wondering what I was sitting there grinning for,
how would they understand that it is because I was
a runner with a new PB and nothing else really
mattered.
If you ran on Sunday I hope you are experiencing a
similar thrill to Claires.
Cheers
Pat
