Dear Pat,

I recently attended a party to commemorate all 43 City to Surf legends. The legends are runners who have participated in all 35 City to Surfs. The night was filled with old war stories and one Legend advised me that in the inaugural event most of the runners under estimated how difficult the journey was going to be and as he entered Rose Bay there were exhausted runners strewn all over the road.

Thankfully, 35 years down the track we are all better prepared and I hope that if you ran last Sunday you achieved your goal and walked away with that special euphoric feeling.

I had the opportunity, while in Sydney, to have a chat with Steve Moneghetti and I hope you enjoy the first of many ‘unplugged’ interviews which will be coming your way.

I am off to Noosa this weekend (yeah I know, tough life) for the Noosa Journal Half Marathon and 10k. If you are still contemplating running in either race I hope you decide to take up the challenge, it’s a great event.

Cheers

Pat

  • Congratulations Craig Mottram

Congratulations to Craig Mottram on grabbing a Bronze medal in the Helsinki World Championships. What is exciting about Craig is that he is still young and has a good 10 years of running left in him. Melbourne/ Beijing/ London etc etc, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for Craig.

Scott Walton's trek to help fight poverty

A long time member of my Brisbane running group is in training for the Oxfam Trailwalk. An event which will find Scott reducing his usual pace but venturing over a distance he has never traveled before. Scott is hoping you can help him raise funds to help fight poverty.

    Happy Birthday to ME

Tomorrow, the 17th of August is my birthday. Last week my partner Susan and daughter Jessica ensured that my birthday comes around, at least, twice a year.

PatCarrollOnline Pacers required for Noosa Half Marathon

Riding high on recent success at the Gold Coast Airport Marathon, PatCarrollOnline Pacers will be showing the way on August 21 at the Noosa Journal Half Marathon. If you would like to help make a difference and be a pace runner at Noosa I would love to hear from you.

Would you like to have your running story posted on my site?

Achieving your goal can be a rewarding experience and you may wish to share such an experience with other like minded individuals. Please feel free to email your story to me and I will do my best to post it on my site.

    Stephen Moneghetti ''unplugged''

Steve Moneghetti is one of Australia’s all time great distance runners and achieved remarkable results on the World stage during his incredible career. I had a chat with Steve touching on his most memorable moments in the sport and his famous meticulous approach to training. I also asked why he continues to push his body to the limit at a time where he could be taking the easy option and comfortably joining me in the commentary van.
