Pat Carroll Online Newsletter Newsletter 1
July 2005

Dear Pat,

Welcome to the first of my ‘new style’ newsletters.

In Australia we are currently in the heart of our distance running season and I look forward to helping as many runners as possible through my online coaching, Brisbane running group and also by providing the odd piece of information in my newsletters.

I am also looking forward to once again being involved with the live commentary for the City to Surf however I will be watching in envy as all of the runners filter down William Street as I remain seated.

I hope you enjoy the newsletter, there will be plenty more to come.

Cheers

Pat

  • Distance running - A true World sport

Australia’s own Craig Mottram is currently setting the World on fire as he circles various athletic tracks in Europe. Last Friday night Craig was narrowly defeated over 5000 metres by Ethiopia’s Kenenisa Bekele at London’s Crystal Palace meet. I have put together a brief article centered around the significance of Craig’s achievement and also the opportunities the sport of distance running offers to us all.

Scott Walton's trek to help fight poverty

A long time member of my Brisbane running group is in training for the Oxfam Trailwalk. An event which will find Scott reducing his usual pace but venturing over a distance he has never traveled before. Scott is hoping you can help him raise funds to help fight poverty.

    Pat McCormack's London Marathon experience

Gaining entry into the London Marathon is often more an arduous task than running the 42.2k itself. Pat McCormack was fortunate enough to join thousands of other runners on the start line and wishes to share his experience with you.

PatCarrollOnline Pacers required for Noosa Half Marathon

Riding high on recent success at the Gold Coast Airport Marathon, PatCarrollOnline Pacers will be showing the way on August 21 at the Noosa Journal Half Marathon. If you would like to help make a difference and be a pace runner at Noosa I would love to hear from you.

Would you like to have your running story posted on my site?

Achieving your goal can be a rewarding experience and you may wish to share such an experience with other like minded individuals. Please feel free to email your story to me and I will do my best to post it on my site.

Gold Coast Airport Marathon motivational talk

At the recent Gold Coast Airport Marathon Rob De Castella/Susan Hobson and myself held a motivational talk on the eve of the race courtesy of Runners World. An audio file of the talk, in full, is able to be downloaded for free from my site.
