Pat, Welcome to the first PatCarrollOnline.com Newsletter for 2006. No doubt all of your 2006 goals are locked in and the countdown is on:
Are you a PatCarrollOnline.com client or a regular member of my Brisbane running group and would like to win a PatCarrollOnline.com singlet? All you have to do is answer the following question via return email. Entries close 9pm Wednesday Feb 1. (if more than one person answers the question correctly I will select the winner in a fair way) Question: O’dea is the maiden name of which former Australian distance runner? You can help make a difference by being a pace runner in the Canberra Marathon. All pace runners receive free race entry to the April 9 event. More details below. One of the most common running related questions I am asked is about competition and how to successfully achieve a goal on race day. I hope you find the brief article I put together on running at an ‘Even Pace’ helpful. Cheers
Pat Carroll
The pace you run at on race day should not be based on allowing for the ‘death march’ in the closing stages. Ideally your race pace will be strongly determined by how solid your preparation was.
I represented Australia at three Commonwealth Games and I am yet to make plans to travel to the Commonwealth Games in my own country. Very slack on my behalf I know and time will tell if I actually make it down there. One person who will be there is our very own Craig Mottram. In a two mile race in Boston Craig Mottram launched a blistering final sprint over the final 60m to overtake one of the two men who finished ahead of him at the World Championships 5000m in Helsinki last year, Ethiopia's Sileshi Sihine.
I am proud of the feedback noted on the TESTIMONIAL page on my site for it reminds me I am making a difference by helping runners achieve. I can help provide you direction. Would you like me to set you realistic goals in training and also for the event you wish to prepare for?

I managed to get a good deal on some Mizuno clothing so I am happy to reduce the usual cost of the singlets etc. If purchased at training: Singlets $35, T Shirts/Crop Tops and Bra Tops $40 I also have some men’s running shorts in M/L & XL at a cost of $25 You are welcome to take any item home to try before you buy.
