  • Pat,

Not for much longer though. Possibly you've caught wind of the way I wish to celebrate my 50th birthday. Yep that's right "FIFTY"! One week to go - next Wednesday Aug 17. Anyway I've never been a conformist so in keeping with this I'm going to celebrate reaching the "half way mark" by running 50k on my 50th birthday and it just so happens that it's a public holiday!

My current plan involves departing The Ship Inn @ 5am.

The Ship Inn - Green Bridge - Qld Uni - Regatta Hotel - Lap of Mt Cootha with off road running involving Gap Creek Rd - Regatta Hotel - Coronation Drive - finishing with 10 x 1k laps of the Botanical Gardens.

Why: I've always preached the fact that running is such a great way to "publicly" show one's appreciation for life. Not for one second do I ever take life for granted so with this in mind I'm "running" my talk on my 50th! This won't be a simple venture however it's a challenge and one I'm up for.

It would be great if you could celebrate with me and possibly join in at whatever stage throughout the run OR join me for a lap or so in the Gardens from around 8.30am OR simply rock on over to the Gardens and cheer me on during my final k's.

The pace - well God only knows what I'll be like once I reach the Gardens but we could be looking at 5 - 5.15/k.

The Ship Inn post run: Possibly you may like to join me at The Ship Inn from 10am. I won't hold you to it but just so I can get a feel for numbers please advise if you'll be joining me for a birthday brunch.

I'm unable to make PCRG this Friday (City to Surf obligations) however Andy Steele will be at the helm so PCRG will still take place. The session will take place at Roma St and please take care when crossing George St.

PCRG Laser Spectacular - "Who's UP for it"? Details here. The Laser gig will also serve as a ripper delayed 50th party for yours truly.

Catch you in the am and "hey" it's just a number isn't it!

    Cheers

    Pat

Hilly Socks - second to none!

I met Ron Hill pre 1986 London Marathon - Ron is a true legend! This meeting encouraged me to try "Hilly Socks" some 25 years later. I'm particularly impressed with the Mono Skins and can honestly say they're the best fitting sock I've ever worn.

Hilly Socks are professionally made with comfort second to none!
