Pat, Yes - GO PCRG! The big day is almost here and it'll be a ripper. There will be a PCRG marquee in the corporate area and you're most welcome to use this as your base/meeting point throughout the day. This map gives you an idea as to where the marquee will be located. Possibly print it off and hand it to your supporters so they'll know where to meet up with you. In a nutshell - it's on your very left as you hook into the finishing straight.
There will be a barbeque/drinks (juice/soft drink) @ the PCRG marquee (my shout) and you're welcome to fire this up @ any time throughout the morning. Please - help yourself.
It's a dream situation to be in. To knock over a healthy campaign and to be enjoying the final week leading into your goal race. Try not to get too worked up about it though. Sure it's healthy to be a tad nervous but you can't allow this "tad bit of nervousness" evolve into a constant anxiety attack. A constant high level of anxiety will find you arriving @ the start line feeling like you've already run your race. "So Pat how do I stop myself from going through the "what ifs" re what may take place on Sunday." Well I'm glad you asked because the solution is an easy one "Don't think about it". You've spent enough time locking in your thoughts - not only have you banked some healthy k's but you've also banked some great reflections as to what you wish to achieve. These thoughts and your banked k's will come to the fore on Sunday. This week is all about chilling/resting and savouring the fact you're healthy/active and that you have a fire in your soul which has driven you to take on this challenge.
I smashed myself up and down the Gold Coast highway for a number of years. At times I would start to fade, fatigue and insane pace would "almost" start to get the better of me. One thing lifted me though. Being a Queenslander the support I received was incredible. A constant chant of "Go Pat" lifted me no end and picked me up when I was about to fall. I had no idea back then I would establish such an incredible running group, but man I'm thrilled it's happened. What will lift you on Sunday will be the support of your fellow group members and family/friends and I encourage you and your supporters to do so by voicing (and maybe even holding a sign):
I'll catch YOU in the am. It won't be a tough session because the cake is almost baked to perfection and will soon be ready to be served. Cheers Pat
