Pat, Last Friday a cyclist came off his bike when he was well clear of any PCRG members. A number of PCRG members stopped to see if he was ok and at first it appeared that he may have escaped with just a few minor scratches. It turned out that I knew the cyclist in question and when I made contact with Jim later that day he advised me that he fractured his hip in the fall. Jim wasn't traveling fast and unfortunately the wet conditions along with a bend in the track were against him on the day. Jim thanked me and fellow PCRG members who offered assistance and I later discovered that he phoned a radio station complementing PCRG members on being so concerned.
Please be careful at all times when you are involved
in a PCRG session and always be aware that we
share the paths with pedestrians and cyclists. We
do
not have the right to take over the paths and it
must
be ensured at all times that we run in a
courteous/aware manner.
Injury Prevention (IP) and Nutrition talk:
Guest lecturers: Steve Manning (IP) & Sharon Rochester (Nutrition). Please advise me via reply email if you will be attending. There is no need to advise if you have noted your name on the poster @ PCRG. 40 people have so far confirmed attendance. Now that Easter is done and dusted you have the opportunity to fully commit to your Gold Coast campaign. I encourage you to adopt the very same "leave no stone unturned attitude" that consumed me when I was "near" the top. The mornings are staying darker longer and soon we will only just start to gain light once the core of the session commences. It's a matter of being tough and realizing that life is full of challenges and confronting and overcoming each challenge makes you a stronger individual in many ways.
Catch you in the morning and/or on Friday.
Cheers Pat P.S. Hold off entering Gold Coast. I will be establishing a group entry procedure - stay tuned!
