Pat, "Life is a journey not a destination" and it's without doubt that the birth of a fresh year TWENTYTEN will encourage a number of people to lay the foundations for a new challenging goal. I know - the standard "tease" that most of us hear at this time of year however there's no denying that it's true. Margreet Dietz started running to lose weight and didn't get far initially because she was out of shape. For the past 4 years Margreet has enlisted me as her online running coach and has made the natural progression from 10k's to Half Marathons to Marathons (3.07.10). Margreet now proudly calls herself a runner! Margreet's passion for running is now so great that it resulted in her writing a book titled "Running shoes are a girls best friend". The book shares the experiences of what running has meant, and still means, for the lives of 53 women and is intended to inspire and encourage. Even though Margreet currently resides in Canada a large number of the woman profiled are Australian and even a few PCRG members shared their story.
Margreet summed up the reason she continues to
run by saying:
You can purchase Margreets book as a Ebook ($10 US) or a hard copy here. Embrace the energy that a new year provides and lock in your TWENTYTEN goals. I hope you'll be rewarded tenfold for the km's that you'll bank. Cheers

Canberra is always a great event to kick off the new year and the 2010 event is now less than 10 weeks away, so if you've been thinking of an early season marathon, this one comes highly recommended. There is also a 50km option, which is very popular amongst those training for the Comrades Marathon, or for those who want to boast that they have gone "beyond the marathon". For those who aren't up for the longer distances, the Asics Marathon Eve 5km and 10km races on Saturday 10 April provide a good hitout and leave you with an opportunity to support friends and family in the marathon on Sunday morning, 11 April.
PCRG is one of Australia's most supportive community running groups. Please join us if you're ever visiting Brisbane. If you live in Brisbane - what's stopping you?
