Believe in yourself
PC:
Marathoning is a tough game at the elite end, isn't it Lee! It
is not all that different though for those who follow further
down the field. If you were asked to stress three important
factors to somebody who was training for the
Gold Coast Marathon
in 10 weeks time, allowing them to get the most out of
themselves on the day, what would they be? This can be training
related, being motivated in your training, being mentally
prepared for the race, running naked through the woods or how to
reach within and maintain a pace when you are feeling tired.
Anything at all Lee, but just three.
LT:
1) Believe in yourself. You will go through many ups and downs
in the race but the end result will be worth it.
2) The
marathon is like life. You only get out of it what you put into
it. There are no short cuts!
3)
Enjoy the moment. You have put in so much work and maybe you did
not achieve what you wanted. By enjoying it, you will be back to
further yourself!
PC:
Thanks for your time Lee. Marathons are a mystical event and
often hard to predict how one will go. The beauty being that
occasionally there is a window of opportunity for somebody to
rise on the day and perform extremely well. Maybe that will be
you in Athens. Talk to you again soon mate.
LT:
Cheers mate. I believe my day will come, but when; nobody knows.
I know that in Athens the guy with the fastest pb will not
necessarily win. It will be a war of attrition and the guy that
wants it the most will win. I look forward to hopefully being
that guy!
