Oct 3k Time Trial Feedback
I noticed
in yesterday's email, there was a chance to win a group member
award.
I think there was one stand out performer, who may or may not be
eligible to win given he did not run on the day. Nonetheless, I
wanted to acknowledge his contribution on the day.
Steve Grace embodies what it is to be a PCRG member. Steve
paced me last month, and despite every indication from my
training leading up to the day that I might get a pb, I missed
out by 9 seconds. I was very disappointed as I felt I had
really put in the training.
In the lead up to this month's time trial, Steve continuously
counselled me, promising he would again run the next one with
me. Realising that time trial fell on the Tuesday after his
debut as a half ironman triathlete, I did not expect in a
hundred years that he would be there to help me out on the day.
But that was underestimating the spirit and generosity of Steve,
as to my shock and delight I saw him turn up on his bike to take
me through my paces. Well, 3kms later and a lot of shouting
from Steve and a lot of "heart" from me - I nailed it with
another pb and a second sub 14 minute time trial to my name.

Jackie Trad was also running with me and I know benefiting
hugely from Steve's constant (and LOUD...and actually, I think I
recall some swearing) encouragement along the way.
I just wanted to acknowledge to you, Pat, as coach just how
inspiring some of your team are. And how selfless and
supportive someone like Steve could be, after what could only be
described as a MASSIVE weekend for him.
You should be very proud of the group you have developed
Pat. Cause it is
full of CHAMPS.
