PATHWAY
Mizuno
Injury Prevention Seminar (April 13)
The Ship Inn - 7.30pm (Friday night)
There will be drinks on the upper level deck from 6.30pm.
Steve Manning (podiatrist) will be providing you with some
valuable tips on injury prevention and he will also share with
you his vast knowledge on running shoes.
Running can be
one of the most rewarding sports and achieving your goal
can be an amazing experience. The downside about being
involved in running is the fact it
can place your body under a
great deal of stress. A high workload
will improve the size of your motor however if you are not
careful a major injury can strike,
placing your Gold Coast goal on hold. You
can however implement preventative
measures.
If you wish to
have an uninterrupted Gold Coast 2007 campaign you
simply cannot afford
to miss this talk.

River
City Cycles Nutrition Seminar (May 4)
The Ship Inn - 7.30pm (Friday night)
There will be drinks on the upper level deck from 6.30pm.
Correct
nutrition is essential if you are to achieve your goal on July
1. One of Brisbane’s leading
dieticians, Greg Shaw, will be providing you with vital
information relating to your dietary intake.
Your diet not
only supplies fuel for your workouts, it also aids in the
recovery process. Greg will be talking about what your
daily diet should consist of as well as what
you should be
consuming before and immediately after you run. Greg will also
focus on your race day diet, this being your intake before and
during your event.
Greg comes
highly qualified. He is currently advising the Brisbane Lions as
well as numerous other clients. You can find out more about Greg
here.
Following is an
extract from the
Queensland
Sports Medicine Centre web site:
Greg
completed his degree in Bachelor of Health Science (Nutrition
and Dietetics) at QUT, in 1999. Greg is currently providing
services to the Brisbane Lions AFC, Qld Reds rugby union team,
Australian and QAS Swimming and QAS rowing as well as a growing
private practice. In addition to the nutritional expertise Greg
brings to the practice, his experience as an internationally
ranked swimmer and Australian team member for 5 years gives him
practical experience applying advanced nutritional principles to
sport. He specialises in weight loss, sports nutrition,
diabetes, and nutrition for a corporate lifestyle.

Sydney Half
Marathon (May 20) optional
The
smh half marathon falls 6 weeks prior to Gold Coast. This is
perfect timing for anyone looking for a Half Marathon tune up
prior to
July 1.
I have won this event twice and
still hold the course record (61.11) which is also the current
Australian all comers Half Marathon record.
I
will be mc'ing the event this year and perhaps I will be calling
out your name as you cross the line.
The
race closes once 5000 people have entered and this usually takes
place in early April. With this in mind I strongly recommend you
enter
ASAP to guarantee your entry. Once 5000 people have entered
no further entries will be accepted.
PCRG members are asked to organise
their own entry/travel and accommodation.
The
Sheraton on the Park has been nominated as the preferred
PCRG accommodation venue (certainly not compulsory though). There will be a group dinner Saturday
evening - May 19 (venue tba).

Gold Coast Rehearsal
(June 9/10) optional
The two major contributing factors which can turn a faultless
preparation into a disastrous race day are high anxiety levels
and a dramatic change in one's diet before and during an event.
