November 3k Time Trial
It is Melbourne Cup day and there will be fortunate punters
raising their arms in the air and shouting with excitement as
their beast crosses the line first. Therefore it was only apt
that our Melbourne Cup 3k Time Trial should be greeted with the
same spirit and who better to show such zest than our own closet
gambler Matt Phillips.
Matt crossed the line shouting with joy, arms reaching to the
sky in a slick 9.55. Matt joins the Sub 10 club, smashing his
one month old PB of 10.05. Congratulations Matt, your attitude
is electric.
Matt was not first across the line though. Krishna obliterated
her 10.30 effort last month with 9.38. Krishna was more than
satisfied with her performance and it was great to hear her
express to the Group that we have injected a fresh feel to her
running. We all play a small role in each others achievements as
it is often the spirit of the group that keeps us all involved.
It is exciting to know that we all offer Krishna continued
momentum leading her to a possible birth in the 2006
Commonwealth Games team. "GO KRISHNA".
Now to a guy who was a respectable runner in his time and
leaving the Sport to add to Australia's population and also
concentrate on his movie career, Ian. With a goal to run Sub 10
min today Ian far exceeded his expectations with a 9.44. Great
work Ian and your encouragement to fellow group members never
goes unnoticed.
I could be here all day singing everyone's praises. Theresa
12.02 from 12.20, amazing. Andrew 9.45 from 9.50. Aaron (well
and truly BACK) 9.43 from 9.52. Darrell 13.07 from 13.17,
great work Darrell. Rob 11.22 from 11.41. Ciaran (to be sure to
be sure) 11.17 from 11.37.
Scott Stevens, who is a distant member of the group, phoned in
with his 11.00 performance, smashing his PB of 11.38. Great work
Scott.
David, Peter, Helen, Paul and Sue were only seconds away from a
personal best.
Welcome to Virgin Time
Trialer, Emma. Great to have you as a member of the group Emma.
The athlete of the month award goes to Kristy. Kristy had to
overcome a number of hiccups in recent times following a bike
accident. I admire the way Kristy persevered with her rehab and
rode out the rough seas. Kristy ran a personal best today of
14.22. Great work Kristy and congratulations on winning the
monthly award.
Kristy receives a gift courtesy of our sponsor Run on Down. I
encourage you all to take advantage of the 15% discount
available to group members and to visit Run on Down at Enoggera
or Coorparoo for all your running needs.
Great to see you ALL applying yourselves this morning. You have
every reason to feel content. There's always tomorrow though.
Cheers
Pat
