January 3k Time Trial
January's Time Trial saw the return of an original group member,
Mark Jones. Half way through last year Mark had to take a
prolonged break from running in order to correct his core
strength stability and also go under the knife, having a hernia
attended to. I will continue to harp on the importance of
staying in tune with your body until the cow's come home. For
many of you running is self fulfilling and I would not like to
see it taken away from you.
Welcome back Mark. It is great to see you have finally stepped
out of the woods and let's hope your injury days are truly
behind you.
A much dryer track this month which resulted in some fabulous
(no, I'm not gay) performances. Personal bests from:
David Young 9.59 down to 9.57
Pat McCormack 12.18 down to 11.56
Gary Mayor 10.23 down to 9.49
Verity 12.30 down to 11.37
Jodie 10.38 down to 10.24
David Lang 10.24 down to 10.06
Steve B 11.36 down to 11.19
Rob/ Theresa and Mark were just outside their personal bests.
Welcome to Virgin Time Trialers: Glenda/ Michael/ Danny/
Cameron/ Scott and Mark.
Congratulations to Danny on running a new course record of
9.27.
There were some great performances this morning however I would
like to remind you all that your major goals, being Canberra/
London and Gold Coast are still a number of weeks away. To allow
your enthusiasm to continue at the same level you need to adhere
to the philosophy of FAST on your FAST days and Chill on the
remaining days. Pushing the pace on your easier days WILL cook
your chook before the banquet.
We were graced with Matt's
presence, bike and all. Hopefully you will be back on deck soon
mate.
The athlete of the month award goes to David Lang. Not only did
David run an 18sec PB but he came close to bursting a lung or
two in the process. David certainly dug deep and it is exciting
to see his
Canberra Marathon campaign going to plan. Congratulations
David.
David wins a gift courtesy of
the Pat Carroll Running Group sponsor "Run on Down". Please
don't hesitate to visit Run on Down at Coorparoo or West End for
all your running needs.
Cheers
Pat
