April 3k Time Trial
Aprils 3K Time
Trial was met with a record 40+ runners. It’s great to see the
excitement and positive feeling within the group growing with
each session. With just over 12 weeks to go to the Gold Coast
Airport Marathon, Half Marathon and 10k everyone is well placed.
Keeping injuries at bay and staying healthy will ensure that
July 3 will be a great day and give good reason to celebrate at
the formal dinner on the 16th of July.

Looking back at
my running career I was reasonably fortunate with regards to
staying injury free however when I did get injured I would
manage to do so in a major way. This would involve being out for
months at a time. The soul searching you go through during
enforced absence from running can either make you or break you.
Two group
members, Verity Kimber and Mark Jones were both sidelined for the last
quarter of 2004 due to injury. To see Verity and Mark running
injury free and close to their 94 best is fantastic. I therefore
have great pleasure in announcing that the JOINT winners
of the Pat Carroll Running Group “Athlete of the Month”
award for April to be Verity Kimber and Mark Jones. Full
commendation goes to both Verity and Mark for overcoming
adversity and displaying strength of character to bounce back.
Verity and Mark
get to toss a coin between a $40 gift voucher from group
sponsor, "Run on Down" and a $50 voucher from group sponsor “The
Ship Inn”. Please don't hesitate to visit
Run on Down at Coorparoo or West End for all your running
needs. Please
click here for a fantastic deal available "only" to group
members.
The Ship Inn
will be open very soon and I am confidant it will prove to be an
ideal post run venue.
